Compare Electricity and Gas Plans - Stop Overpaying.

Comparing electricity and gas providers is one of the most straightforward ways to reduce your energy costs. Power rates, usage charges, and daily supply fees vary significantly between providers - and staying on an old plan often means you're paying more than you need to. A quick electricity and gas comparison may show you what options are available in your area.

Use our free energy comparison platform - enter your complete address, select whether you want to compare electricity, gas, or both, and we'll show you plans from our panel of Australian energy providers. You can compare gas and electricity rates, supply charges, tariffs, and estimated annual costs all in one place.

The cheapest electricity provider or cheapest gas provider for you depends on your location, usage, and what plans are available at the time. Popular providers include AGL, Origin Energy, EnergyAustralia, and Alinta Energy - but the cheapest power provider in your area may vary. Comparing energy plans regularly is the only reliable way to find the appropriate rate for your situation.

Gas and electricity rates refer specifically to the usage charge - what you pay per kilowatt-hour. An energy plan comparison looks at the full picture: usage rates, daily supply charges, discounts, benefit periods, fees, and estimated costs. When comparing electricity and gas, always look at the total estimated cost, not just the headline rate.

It's easier than most people expect. Compare electricity and gas plans using our tool, pick a plan, and sign up online or over the phone. Your new provider handles the transfer - your supply won't be interrupted, and your previous provider sends a final bill for usage up to the switch date. Electricity switches may happen in as little as two business days.

Yes - our comparison tool lets you compare gas and electricity plans at the same time. If you want to compare electricity tariffs and gas rates from the same provider, you may filter for bundle options. Comparing gas and electric together may sometimes uncover better value than comparing them separately.

Switching electricity providers may take as little as two business days. Gas transfers can take longer and may depend on your next scheduled meter read or billing cycle, which can be up to around 90 days in some cases. Your energy supply generally continues during the transfer process.

Yes - comparing electricity prices and gas plans through EP is completely free. We earn a commission from providers when you switch, but this has no impact on the energy rates or plan prices you see.

Most energy plans include a cooling-off period of around 10 business days. If you change your mind after signing up with a new electricity or gas provider, you may cancel without penalty during this window. Check the terms and conditions when you sign up.

Renewable energy comes from naturally replenishing sources - solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and biomass. Unlike coal or gas, these sources don't run out and produce significantly fewer emissions. Many Australian energy providers now offer renewable or GreenPower plans, which you may compare alongside standard electricity and gas plans using our tool.

Comparing electricity providers and gas providers regularly is the most direct way to reduce your bills. Beyond that - LED lighting, turning appliances off at the wall, sealing draughts, and looking into solar feed-in tariffs can all help lower your ongoing energy costs.

In most cases, yes - if the energy account is in your name, you may compare electricity plans and switch providers whenever you like. If your landlord manages the energy account, check your rental agreement first.

In most of Australia you can compare and switch energy providers freely. Some areas - parts of regional Queensland, the Northern Territory, Tasmania, and Western Australia - have fewer options due to regulated markets. Enter your complete address to see what's available in your area.
